ART IS THE PROCESS BETWEEN INSPIRATION AND EXECUTION
Phase One
The re-imagined series has been produced over the past 10 years in distinct phases. Each phase represents an area of over painting that I wanted to explore. Phase One focused on the foreground subject mainly through portraits of celebrity, mostly on 20 x 30-inch canvases.
Phase Two
In Phase Two I worked on larger canvases, up to 6 feet a side. I also started exploring a greater variety of materials I could use, making my own paints when I couldn’t find brands the met my specifications. In this phase, the background was given as much attention as the subject. The work became narrative and I love telling stories visually!
Phase Three
For Phase Three I am creating visual abstractions over the printed photographs with no prescribed interaction. Using materials, tools and techniques I developed over phases one and two I am working on 20 x 30 canvases with an emphasis on process.
